What's wrong, as someone else already pointed out, is no club out there
wants to host it.
And don't talk to me about Triumphest ... it's an effect of NEVER having had
a VTR convention within reasonable driving distance, not a cause.
Baloney
It amazes me when people blame VTR for the fact that there is no interest by
those clubs in hosting a VTR convention. I've spoken personally with VTR
board members who would LOVE to work out a west coast convention if only a club
were interested. If a VTR convention can be combined with The Roadster Factory
Summer Party, then surely it could be combined with Triumphest - if only one
of those clubs were interested.
By all reports there was a sharp decline in east coast attendance at
Breckenridge, CO, even though it's only slightly west of center. Can you
imagine how many would come to San Francisco, for example ?
Absolute rubbish
The long distance award at Breckenridge went to a gentleman who drove his
TR4 from New England to California and back to Colorado before the convention.
I personally caravaned there with a group from North Carolina and Virginia
and partway back with folks from New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Many of us had
the time of our life on that trip and friendships that will last a lifetime
were formed. If there is ever a VTR convention in California, we're coming and
bringing a lot more folks with us.

PS This is really neither here nor there, but if you think Colorado is "only
slightly west of center" you should take a look at a full US map some time.
