If your experience is anything like mine, you can't do much about the
noise. :-( Mine has a deep roar from the engine and exhaust,
especially bad between 2500 and 3000rpm. I've tried insulation all
through the back but to no avail, alas. If you like the sound of the
engine, it is sweet music indeed. But if you want to hear the radio
or if you go on a long trip, that sweetness isn't so sweet.

The tranny oil is checked by pulling the filler plug and filling
until it starts to drip out. Inotherwords, the oil should be level
with the bottom of the filler hole. There is no dipstick per se.
The filler plug is located pretty much in the middle of the right
side of the gearbox, above the exhaust pipe unfortunately, so it is
difficult to reach. The best time to check it is when you have the
tranny tunnel pulled out.
