Hello,
I'll try to be brief. I'm a 42 year old Tool Engineer. I've been interested
in cars all my life. I started out helping my older brother restore a 50's
Studebaker pickup. That's what got me started. I always looked for to
foreign cars to work on. My first car to restore was a 1957 BMW Isetta 300.
If you don't know what that is, you're not alone. The Isetta was a bubble
car in which the front end opened up like a door. Erkel on TVs Family
Matters showed one. In the end I restored one completely, and started on a
second one. I also bought a spare parts car. I belonged to several clubs and
attended a lot of shows and parades. I was never really satisfied with these
cars thou. There were slow, impractical, and you had to tow them everywhere
you wanted to go. So I decided to sell everything, cars, parts, and
literature. I decided that what I really wanted a sports car. So I looked at
MG's, Austin Healeys, Triumphs, even Mini Coopers. I settled on MG,
something around 1960-65. But, everything I found was either to expensive,
or needed to much work. One day coming home from a auction, I spotted a red
sports car convertible at auto parts store. I was a Sunbeam Alpine series I.
I never heard of them. It was love at first sight! The next day I took my
wife, my son, and my checkbook to see the car. Bought the car that day! The
car didn't need much, the owner had done most of the work. I've replaced the
carpeting, installed a new soft top, and did some minor detail work. This
summer, I hope to install an overdrive unit.

BTW, I think this group is great. Everyone has been very helpful. I'm also
on a motorscooter list because I have a Lambretta scooter. They seem to send
a lot of time "Flaming" each other. If anyone out there is in the
Pittsburgh, PA. area, I like to get together and talk.

Well, that's all for me... How about the rest of you out there?
