the Nascar type cars can indeed fit into
an existing class,

Why would you want to take a vehicle specifically designed for a certain type
of motorsports venue, lets say left turns & high performance braking for
example, and use it in a straight line only venue?
Because of design considerations and performance requirements said vehicle is
not competetive as a single purpose vehicle would be.
Inquiring minds want to know why you would not optimize your vehicle for the
event you are entering?
