        There are now available reasonably priced digital thermometers that
are an incredible help for diagnosing cooling problems.  They can be used to
pinpoint any problems very quickly.   

        Don't rely on the gauge for information, get some actual readings
from different areas of the radiator to make sure there are no blockages.
Chances are the cooling system is working fine and the gauge is reading too
high.

        If you have no pressure leakage from the radiator cap, yet there is
still antifreeze dumping, then as Larry suggested it is just an expansion
issue and the radiator was too full.  If this is a worry, it's not a bad
idea to install an aftermarket catch tank.
