A little caution on using the tips on the VTR site - one of them won't work!

"Another technique has been suggested by Robert Shaw, who had this problem a
few years ago, and took the car to his mechanic. The mechanic put the car on
a lube rack and with a long extension and a 1/2 socket reached right up and
presto unbolted the hinges at the front of the bonnet. It took him about 20
minutes and it was opened."

This method will only work if you haven't installed the side bolts on your
hood (bonnet) hinges. If you look at your hinges, you'll see there is a bolt
on each one that comes in from the side, in addition to those that come in
from the bottom. These two bolts are impossible to get to from under the
hood. I would hate to see you go to all the trouble of removing the other
bolts, only to find the hood still firmly stuck in place!
