Jim---There are a couple of items not addressed in the info you provided
about the "dropping brake pedal". Usually just backing up would not
cause the pedal to drop, unless you also turned the wheels enough to
tilt the rotors. The same thing would also cause the pedal to drop when
turning the wheels in a forward direction. Check this circumstance.

The other would be the flatness of the pads themselves, since this
wasn't mentioned. Uneven pad wear, front to back or top to bottom, will
also cause the pedal to have to be pushed farther, to get them squared
up to the rotors upon each brake application. For more on this, refer to
