Marc,
stretch yourself into a 97 Grand Prix GTP or Regal GS. there are lots of
bolt-on-go-fast parts for these cars including springs, sway bars,
brakes, supercharger overdrive pulleys, strut braces. the only thing I'm
not sure about is Konis or any other hi-end strut.  240 hp stock, lots of
torque, 16x7 wheels. unfortuantely, all are 4spd autos but so are the
Impala SS and with the blower, there's plenty of low-end.
I've never driven one myself but there are plenty of people with modified
versions of these cars around and some even autox. look here:
