What insurance companies really worry about is claims - especially
fraudulent claims.

The problem is that racing isn't a covered activity, but in many cases it's
impossible to tell if the damage was done while racing or not. If the
policy doesn't cover racing, but you file a claim it's insurance fraud - but
how does the company tell? (Come on, we all know someone who's damaged a
car racing and filed a claim on it.)

Companies are really cracking down on this stuff and it's just easier to
cancel someone they know participates in a non-covered (but legal) activity
than to hassle with it if they have a claim with no police report. Claims
drive rates and insurance fraud is a major problem. Even if you could prove
the group had better statistical collision rates, how would you get around
the fraudulent claims issue? It'd be tough and no company is going to be
willing to insure our cars while we're racing.

Well maybe we should post all autox results in PDF form. That way it make
searching harder at least. They would have to actually so and look up the
names and then match them to there list, not search the names on there list.
It like they now do a credit check for insurance, I know a few people with
perfect driving records who got dropped because there credit was crap. I
like the last line there but the insurance companies will not do any
research to find if autox or people who race in general are safer. If they
did find we were safer it would not help us, they only worry about the
greater risk. I think if they really wanted to make people safer and lower
claims they would promote driver training more, like getting you a discount
on your rate if you took like the Mid-Ohio school they offer for teaching
you car control and what not.
