Avoid the 712's for autocrossing.  The 712 is a decent, quiet, responsive, 
inexpensive street tire, but for a high
performance tire, just does not have much overall grip.  They also suffer from 
the typical Kumho obesity - I think
they use lead for the belts!  If you can find them, the Falken Azenis is a 
better street/autocross tire.
