It seems to me that no one should be coerced into "proving" their car on a
track when that may not be an area they don't feel comfortable with.  This
sounds more like something out of the "macho* drag racing 50s" with the
car's pink slip at stake.  If it were my car would I do it?  Probably not
unless someone put up at least a $10,000 retainer to cover any possible
damage to the car or engine (I'm insured).  That seems only fair.  And just
because a car may be well prepared that doesn't necessarily mean it will go
fast, that depends on the driver.

*Daffy Definitions:
 MACHO - Spanish word meaning "big brawny male who loves other big brawny
males".
