Larry asks:
<snip>

P.S.: Jim J. from K.C., aren't you a meteorologist? Any input here?

Yeah, I am. I'll put together a weather outlook as soon as a site is
settled on. By the time this event takes place, I'll be retired and
living in Northwest Georgia. Still... The Blackhawk Farms / Rockford
location sounds really good to me.

BTW - Dodge City is the other end of Kansas from K.C. but it might
be worth consideration... We don't have any real 5* hotels and our
only track is a 1/4 mile dirt oval, but there are several parking lots
that would work well for autocross and, of course, all the cowboys
and wild west history you could ask for as well as the best steaks
in the USA and plenty of cheap tequila <wink>. Unfortunately, I won't
be here after this fall so.....

In any case, I'll volunteer to assist in whatever way I can. Obviously,
I'll set up a complete Spridget Weather Center starting with long
range outlooks and working right down to hour by hour radar and
forecasting for the event itself (especially for the track at Blackhawk
and the Autocross events). I can also help with publicity and any
mailings required, so count me in. I have some experience with
events like this as I was the chair and coordinator for the Official
"Gunsmoke" 50th Anniversary Celebration last year. We brought
in Hollywood stars and people from all over the world for that
event with a budget somewhere around $40K including advertising
and such...

Sounds to me like we need to get a committee together ASAP from
spridgets@autox.team.net and midgetsprite@yahoogroups.com.
I'll volunteer to serve on that committee and can set up a listserve
for it and do the initial organizing. As a home brewer I'm a damned
good "bottle washer" but not much of a "chief cook".

Cheers!!
