Well, this argument has been on team.net about a thosand times in the
last 5 years but I guess one more time won't hurt. (Although a FAQ with
common subjects such as this would help. Then I could just say RTFF
#1.3...)
1) You will have to shave street tires anyway to avoid chunking them.
2) The top competitors will shave them _and_ swap wheels at the event
anyway because this will give them an edge over people who actually run
on true street tires.
3) Pseudo R tires will appear - like BFG KDs - that are both more
expensive and provide less grip than R tires but are still faster than
actual street tires.
4) R tires are actually much cheaper than good street tires because they
are subsidized to some extent (except Hoosiers).
5) We should support the R tire suppliers. They provide needed
sponsorship.
6) R tires will make you feel like a racer. (Subjective I know but it is
a real thrill to get your first set.)
Besides, there are a lot better candidates for new classes besides
openly pandering to the rice burner market. ;-)
