I hope we?re all saying these things with a smile and perhaps tongue firmly
planted in cheek. So, to stir the pot further... old timers should beware,
there is a fine line between discriminating and set in your ways ;-)

While I appreciate the Chapman era cars, time marches on. The M100 Elan (and
now the Elise), are amazing cars in their own, different ways (and it takes more
than a badge for me to say that). However, I never said there was no difference
between the M100 Elan and the Type 26 (36, etc.) Elan. Without a doubt there
is. Nonetheless, I appreciate them both. Working with the packaging restraints
imposed on them, Lotus engineering created a very good car with the M100 Elan -
worthy of the Lotus name. Besides, no matter how good a particular car is, if
it was the only car in the world and we were all driving them, what a boring
world it would be. Vive la difference !

Elans and Elans, Sevens, Elises etc :-)

(How's that Steve?)
