Ah, but that's my point - it won't.   The hard-top is a very different
shape from the soft-top (much flatter, and less organic), and I'm
concerned that it will look daft painted in a non-matching colour.   It
is extraordinary how shape and colour can affect each other.

Your after-market hard-top (if it is similar to the ones in the Rimmer
catalogue) is closer in shape to the soft-top, and therefore will almost
certainly look wonderful.   Magenta is not my favourite colour, so if I
had your car, I'd probably *want* a black top to distract the eye from
the colour of the rest of the car! :-)
