              yeah.. and at that point, wouldn't we be better off
              going to a different car anyway?.. for $15K.. you could
              buy a used Chevy Camaro.. build a 327, that would outperform 
these old
              LBC's.... guess we do it for love not money?.....

              I am about to.. have the engine in my '66 rebuilt by
              Paul Assgierson.. he quoted a price of around $2000 for
              a complete top to bottom.. near stock rebuild.. and that
              is the least expensive on i have found from someone who
              is familiar with these SPECIFIC engines...

              lets see... i bought the car for $2500, .. another $2000
              into the engine.. i will be lucky to sell it for $3500
              this summer ... (hopefully to get a bug-eye)...

              [anyone interested in a swap plus cash deal?]

              it makes no economic sense to do the engine, yet at
              least the car will leave my hands in better shape than
              when I got it...

              i must confess to being a checkbook mechanic.. i admire
              those who can do their own stuff, .. but....
