Hi Kai
What is the make of the TOB, there are a couple of different makes available
over here and none of the ones I have had have ever failed, basically the
same type of bearing on all Triumphs, and I have had Heralds, Dolomites and
2000, 2500 range. All the cars I have had were / are daily drivers, is yours
driven regularly or could this be a lack of use problem? I see that you have
done everything in your power to prevent this, much more than most people
do. I have also fitted clutches to many other cars, of those I have had one
TOB fail, it was on an Allegro, basically an overgrown Mini engine, it
failed within about a month and the manufacturer replaced it no questions
asked, didn't even want the old one mailed back for proof! All I can say is
sorry to hear you are having so much trouble, and hang in there, the good
bearing is out there somewhere, and when you find it you will never hear
from it again.

| Hi Brian,
|
| The second time I re-did the clutch, everything was replaced again.
Doubled
| the bushings on each side for the cross shaft, new cross shaft (well after
| the other new one from TRF wouldn't fit, sourced an NOS one), new TOB
| carrier, new TOB, new clutch pin (modified), new clutch fork with carrier
| pins... refurbished pedal pushrod. Slave cylinder and it's pushrod were
| replaced 12 months prior, still in good order. New clevis pins everywhere
| again.
|
| Also undid the cover (B&B with the kinked fingers, actually works fine),
| again, made sure all was in order with it and the clutch plate. Pilot
| bushing I put in the last time was still showing no signs of wear,
realigned
| and rebolted everything back on there.
