This reporter would put forth an alternative view. In 27 years of Triumph
ownership here in OHIO I can only recall one guy who pulls a Triumph short
distances to a Show. He owns a Mayflower so I sort of understand. It does kind
of
bother me that he regularly steps up to collect the BOS Award voted in by the
participants. Of course the car is perfect so it would do well in a judged
environment too. But Triumph's as in more than one pulling a short distance to
a
Show? Really? Sure they don't have a Jag in there? I have seen those guys
do that.
I go both ways. I have a trailer, a nice Featherlite. I bought and used it
to travel from Ohio to Portland, Oregon for the VTR National. Long interesting
ride and I drove the whole rig right thru Yellowstone. I took it to Texas
and back last summer on 22 hour non stop rides towing the GT6+. I am always
driving to TRA and 6PACK for they are usually within 500 miles or less. Last
year
6PACK was 12 miles. LOL
Are we on the same Planet Guys? Now I have done most all repair and
restoration operations myself on a variety of Triumphs. However since I can
afford it
I will send some work out to professionals. I like the cars to be the best
they can be. Is that not preserving the Marque? My 3 year old grandson Justin
really likes the TR3B. If done right it will be all good for him at 16.
Even if I drive it 1K to 2K a year. Of course I must point out that I will
likely
be driving the each of my 11 Triumphs that 1K to 2K per year. BTW I once
painted my Spitfire. It was very hairy when the Lacquer started spraying like
Cotton Candy and the June Bugs started doing the back stroke on the bonnet!!!!
Trailer Queen Guys vs Driver Guys? We should be more tolerant and accept the
fact that the Triumph World is made up from a cross section of society with
differences.
