It was a hot and sweaty weekend at Waterford Hills for the Meadowbrook
Vintage Races - I'd had a busy weekend fixing the car [the fuel cell
foam was disintegrating] and was really grubby and sweaty, just wearing
dirty shorts, medium rare midriff overhanging beltline, loading dusty
car into trailer [this was before Waterford paved their paddock] - and
there appeared this wondrous vision - a most delightful, quite
statuesque, young lady, dressed all in spotless white - heading straight
for me with smile on face.

She was delivering a humerous "Parking Ticket" to me for unauthorized
parking at her corner [fuel cell foam blockage]. Beautiful smile, lovely
chat - then I lost control and gave her a kiss and a hug - and she still
smiled and chatted.

Apparently she really was a corner worker - but even though I've forced
myself to continue racing many more years she has never reappeared.
Maybe she is still trying to get the muddy, greasy, sweaty stains out of
her spotless white outfit.

Here's to all track workers - thanks and thanks and thanks again.

Derek [still dreaming . . . . . . ]
