Note also that there were only 4 cars that actually finished the race
behind the bugs, walking wounded all. The other 14 cars behind the 
bugs never finished (DNF).

Gimme a break! A Renault Gordini finished ahead of both bugs! ;=)

I really like the picture of the VW bug with the Mustang in the background.
This is obviously a case of the photographer trying to take a shot of the
fast-moving Mustang (notice the clear roofline) when the Bug got in the
way while advancing to the rear. ;=) The only way for the bug to be blurry
and the Mustang to be clear is for one of them to be going about 30-50
MPH faster than the other. You choose...
