That always worked for me Jim and the sprinkler doesn't have enough pressure
to drive brine past seals. I've see universal joints and front wheel bearings
with brine damage.
I believe the last traces of the salt can only be removed with very soapy 
water. I'm looking for a dishwasher large enough for my truck. Small parts
like Zeus buttons don't rust while submerged in oil (Fred Larson's idea).
