alcohol -- the alcohol of choice for de-watering a fuel system. If you have
water in your fuel this is the stuff to use to dry it out (this is what's in
Iso-Heet, the "better" grade of Heet winter fuel conditioner).
Unfortunately, it's hard to find 90% rubbing alcohol -- most is about 70%,
meaniing it already contains 30% water. Anhydrous isopropyl alcohol (no
water or nearly no water) is the best for this use. Beware when shopping --
70% rubbing alcohol is the normally available type, >>

Rubbing alcohol may be isopropyl alcohol or ethyl alcohol - read the labels.
90% or 91% isopropyl alcohol may be hard to FIND on the shelf but its not
hard to GET. If you don't see it on the shelf in your local drugstore, ask
the
pharmacist.
Last night on MotorWeek (PBS TV show) they demonstated the difference
between "gas drying" products containing isopropyl alcohol and those
containing ethyl alcohol by mixing them with gasoline and food coloring in
glass beakers. The difference was dramatic. Conclusion: use isopropyl
alcohol,
don't put anything containing ethyl alcohol in your tank.
