     I beleive the advantage of going to the "harmonic balancer
     instead of the fan doesn't give you horsepower. Rather it cuts
     down on vibration that at higher RPMs can be so severe that it
     can seriouslt mess up a crankshaft. This is important to racers
     as high rpms is where their TR engines "live".
