Well, no ... there are several competing metric standards (French, German,
DIN, ISO, etc.), some of which have both coarse and fine thread versions,
with the result that, for any given diameter, there are at least 2, and
sometimes as many as 5 different 'standard' thread pitches.  As well as 2 or
3 'standard' head sizes.
