The Redline Gear Oil is a synthetic.  It has the 70W80 viscosity properties
at the specified testing temperatures, but probably has a much different
viscosity versus temperature curve.  Redline's suitability for use in
gearboxes should not be extended to assume any gear oil is suitable.  A
"natural" gear oil [crude oil base] would be too viscous as noted.
