There are several evolutionary changes to the 4A, some of which were
mentioned by others. Here are the ones that I can remember:
The 4A uses a different frame from the TR4, and in the US could be found
with IRS or solid rear axle
The grill is different
The radiator is different
The steering rack mounts are different
The handbrake location is different
The dash went from white metal on earlier TR4's to the wood dash at some
point, but I think all 4A's had the wood dash
4A's have chrome strips and lights on the front fenders
Folding top vs the removable top and folding bows (this could also have
taken place on later TR4's, I don't know)
Front suspension changes, including vertical links, trunnions, and lower
a-arms, which made front camber adjustment MUCH easier
4A's came with Strombergs or SU HS6's, depending on when they were made,
4's used Strombergs or SU H6's.
The cylinder heads and intake manifolds were different between the 2 cars,
although once again, these changes could have been made to later 4's.
The REAL experts out there will be happy to point out what I have missed.
