Doug,
I am a Wedge Type Guy and own two including a Fuel injected 81. The Spider
is arguably the most desirable of all the TR7's. Some Spider's were carburated
so the FI version is also a bonus. When right the FI's run great. OK a little
slow off the line but at legal speeds, or at least within a range that if
caught you won't be thrown in jail, I can keep the FI Seven right on the bumper
of someone driving my TR8 in the curves.
However, I have learned over the years a very valuable lesson: Buy the best
car you can find since you will be many dollars ahead versus trying to restore
junk. All three of my Wedges were low mileage cars. 1000 bucks seems way too
cheap. It is either a great deal or trouble.
Cheers,
Darrell
