I carry the glasses problem over from skiing. I wear glasses under goggles.
Except for the Smith Turbo Goggles (has small motor-powered fan!) it's hard
to avoid fogging them. I've tried Fogoff, Cat Crap (copyrighted, believe it
or not), potatoes, etc. Best way to clear them is with cold air, so I've
gotten used to starting off with my goggles pulled up if there's much
humidity out. I do the same racing - I leave the shield open (with my hand
on it to show the grid marshalls that I haven't forgotten it) until I shift
into second gear. By that time the airflow is enough to clear them - except
on a warm, raining humid day; then I just suffer or pull off. The expensive
fogfree shield usually works, though I had one that quit on one side only,
and it doesn't help glasses much. I also put a roll of tape in the middle of
the bar to keep the face shield from closing completely.
Anybody got any better ideas? A Mag-4 isn't going to help solve many of
these problems since most solo and racing groups insist on eye protection
other than spectacles in an open car. A Mag-4 with a face shield isn't a
whole lot better than a closed face helmet with one. I used to use an open
face helmet with face shield back when closed face helmets were regarded as
ridiculous, so I have a small data base on the subject.
