Hey Larry,
I suddenly developed a similar problem on the GT6 last summer and spent the 
whole weekend changing things to no avail.  It would run just fine until the 
RPM's came up to race speed.  Bang, instant temperature spike.  Turned out in 
the end that the lower rad hose was collapsing under the suction.  I went to 
aluminum tubes and short straight hose sections and haven't repeated the 
problem.
