The windscreen frame of a Spit is only attached at the bottom - there
are no structural members bracing it. Metaphorically, all Spitfire
windscreens are flapping in the breeze, except when either a soft- or
hard-top is fitted.

My soft-top is under quite a lot of tension (as per the fitting
instructions), and the one I replaced was too. This could be the root
cause of the problem - excessive tension of the soft-top.

I don't think that there is any damage per se, but the soft-top does
exert a pull on the windscreen frame, and over a period of some months,
the frame moves back slightly.
