For me, the memory goes back to January 1963 when I had to drive from
Seattle to Augusta, GA to report for duty. The thing is, that my buddies
threw a party the night before and thought that it would be fun to hide my
top. Imagine what it was like driving while my friend and I wore sleeping
bags through the northern part of the trip. At least he could zip it over
his head. At one point we had to wire up the Tonneau cover to provide a
little cover during a Utah ice storm. Of course the top was sent to me a
week later. Later on I drove north to Massachusetts and then shipped the car
to Germany. Those were the days. Never once considered the possibility of
car failure! When we finally had to let the car go we almost cried. With a
child on the way something bigger was necessary... so the TR was sold while
we were in Germany. Got a brand new 64 VW for $1100! Finally after pining
away for all those years we picked up another TR3A and have no plans on
letting this one go!

Also thanks to all for the advice on what to do with those steering wheel
cracks.
