As usual like so many things, time takes it's toll.....
Then of course there's the lobbyists, interested parties, etc. etc.
It's the same everywhere in some shape or form, except we never get any younger
or pay less for Spitfire parts!

Consider that it was the USA that started the "safety" and "anti-pollution"
campaigns for autos back in the 60s. Now we have something like 50
different standards (50 states) for testing automobiles here in the US.
