Bob,

As a point in fact, I do apologize to Mark, because this is his venue and I
know that he's done a lot to support the marque, but I suppose that much of
that history is unknown to me since I only joined the lists last year.

But I make no apologies to you or to "FT" since my comments about Mark were
in direct response to your personal attacks on my motivations and character
by offering an alternative, NOT REPLACEMENT venue for Triumph discussions.

Since I started my websites, I have and shall continue to, promote these
lists. I proudly display the spitfires@autox.team.net sticker on my
windshield, and will continue to do so.

I should also point out, however, that I don't exalt anyone who promises one
thing and then lets my e-mail box get flooded with something totally
different and irrelevent to the topics that were promised. So for that, I
also THANK Mark for providing the motivation to start the TTG.

What exactly was this post that you claim I originated that was off-topic
and not Triumph related? This statement is simply false. I was responding
to a thread in which another list member was complaining about the off-topic
content and merely stated that another venue was available for on-topic
discussion. I admit, this was probably a mistake. But where would you have
me promote another Triumph-related venue? What better venue than this one?
In retrospect, I can see how it might have ruffled some feathers, but since
I've never had any intention of attempting to REPLACE this list, but rather
co-exist with it, I never thought my mentioning the TTG might be something
offensive. I suppose that there are those who consider these lists to be
the end-all-be-all and that there is no room for additional Triumph venues.
Well, I respectfully disagree. I think there's room for other discussion
venues and the niche for mine would prevent the kind of character
assasination I've been enduring here today. I could be wrong. Time will
tell.

The gift is the venue itself. A place where enthusiasts can gather to enjoy
their hobbies, upload graphics and help other enthusiasts with their
restoration projects. What else do you want?

I did note that you
> have advertising space for sale. I don't fancy being exposed to that.

Then don't use the venue. I have every right to offer advertising space to
help mitigate the costs that I'm spending out of pocket and I prefer to have
advertisers pick up the tab than solicit donations from members. That's
just a difference in philosophy. I find banner ads (hopefully from Triumph
vendors wishing to sell their wares to interested customers) infinitely more
appealing than off-topic attacks and political discussions and headings that
start with "German Female Underwear" or whatever the hell that was floating
around in this list recently. That stuff shows up in my e-mail box. My
banner ads won't show up in yours.

>Will you be selling your E-mail lists to vendors?

Never. I operate many other discussion venues and it is my solemn pledge
and rock-solid policy that NO user information will ever be distributed to
ANY third parties for ANY reason.

Somebody has to pay, in some

Someone IS paying. I am. But I'll never solicit a TTG member for a dime.
Period. The single, tasteful banners on each page however, will be
remaining. As sort of a pre-emptive defensive maneuver, I'd like to point
something out to everyone. I offered (for free) to create and place an ad
for Joe Curry's Camber Compensator on my forums about a week ago as my way
to personally thank him for helping me with many difficult questions during
my ongoing restoration work these last ten months. This was done with no
strings attached and should not imply Joe Curry's endorsement of the TTG.
In fact, he's not even a member. When all of this blew up last night, I
e-mailed Joe asking if he'd like be to pull his banners because I would find
it incredibly unfair if I have offended someone here, and Joe was in turn
trashed due to a "guilt by association" sort of deal. Bob, you seem like
the kind of person who would be cynical enough to target him next. Joe is
of course at Triumphest here in San Diego and hasn't been receiving his
e-mail apparently, so I don't know what he wants me to do regarding the
banners.

> Chairman Mao corrected a lot of misguided thinking too!!

Now you're calling me a communist? Now THAT'S completely uncalled for.

This isn't a "society" or "government". It's the TRIUMPH list. But more
and more frequently, not always...

Of course I will keep it open! I will also remain a member of these lists.

Thank you, Bob! As a member of this list, I did! Apology accepted.

Best wishes,
