Too often I have convinced a young enthusiast to give
autocross a try only to hear of their disappointment later when they
discover that their modified street car was classified in mod where they
faced trailered custom race cars of more power and half the weight.

What we're doing locally here, is getting the Import speed shops into the
game by having thier own internal points race going.
Even if the SCCA rules put such-and-such a car in MOD class, its not an
issue here so much, because the "ricers" compete internally to thier own
speed shops.
The come, they RETAIN interest, and they get good at this stuff!
