There is no way you can put a dollar limit on this sport. Fordahl
was not first because he had the most expensive car, that may have helped,
but it was because he can drive. A $4000.00 dollar set of shocks won't help
your car unless you can drive it.
We have a guy he in AZ that brought his TT 911 to natls in ASP,
easily $150,000.00 with prep work, did he clean house because he had the
most expensive car? No.
I have a 10 year old Corvette that ran to 6 th in SS this year. I
have bought used wheels and used Koni's for it. I do think with more prep
work and more money it could be faster, but more money won't
make it win.
If I had the budget I would love to run a Riley and Scott TransAm in
CP, not going to happen. We should have a class where any car regardless of
dollar value can run.
Think about how much some of those formula cars in mod cost when
they were new. Try to put a price on the man hours spent keeping them
running.

What difference does cost make in this sport. Many people put as much or
more money into their autocross cars as is in the RSR. Try taking a stock
911 and converting it to ASP specs. Or how about a Ferrari F355. I have seen
them at autocrosses in the past and haven't heard any complaints about how
much they cost. Some people may not like that we took the car to Kansas this
year but the rule book allows such cars. If you don't like it then maybe we
should take a look at the rules.

I agree that megabucks cars shouldn't be allowed to dominate an amateur
sport such as autocross. The Porsche Factory Works RSR 3.8 911 is a
good example of such a car.
