  I think the key is enthusiast.

  Not everyone who has these cars is an enthusiast, or
can even name what country they come from, or any other
models in the line, or any "rivalries" they should know
about.

  Some people just like cheap convertibles, and then
sell them in a year when they break down too much. I
suspect the TR6 and MGB in the discussion might fall
into that category.
