Ah. I don't really have a problem per se except the "ouch my feet are
too darn hot" thing with the heater fan on. Until I pulled the 165F sleeved
stat a few weeks ago, the heater barely put out lukewarm air. I'd change
out your 160F stat before monkeying with the heater valve. But on the list
of easy things to check is that the heater knob on the dash is actually
operating the valve. And that it's adjusted so it's opening all the way.

I've heard of new heater valves failing quickly, but usually they leak, so
you'd notice. I'm using a ball valve from Home Depot after losing my
solenoid and starter to the last leaky old valve, but I'll probably go back
to correct valve next summer so I can use it from inside the car.
