As far as I can recall, Triumph never offered AC on a TR6 (or anything else
really) as factory fit. I only once experienced AC fitted to a Herald
(which isn't quite the same anyway) but with the system operating I was
overtaken by a number of lawn mowers on tick-over!
As my memory serves me, the sheer power needed to run the system was so
energy sapping that it was an embarrasment. Triumph's view WITHIN the
company was until a British manufacturer could come up with an AC system
whch was as good as those made in Japan in terms of minimal power loss,
they were better of without it.
It's possible however, that systems were available thru STI at Leonia as a
US dealer fit but I don't think they applied to any of the sports cars. The
Herald I drove had an American system fitted and the compressor was almost
as large as the engine!
