At one point I compared the 500X15 Hoosier with the same sized Goodyear
Bluestreak repro, and the tread was about the same, but the Goodear
carcass was an inch wider - a close fit under my fenders. Both compare
in tread width with the 550X15 Dunlop.
Previously I ran BFG Comp T/A R1 185/70X15 and the Hoosiers seemed
slower, but because the bias tire was so much easier to drive, the car
actually was faster.
Now, remember we ran this same car in the 60s, first on 165R15 Pirelli
Cinturatos, then 500X15 Bluestreaks. Everyone I knew ran Goodyear or
Firestones, never remember seeing a Dunlop. maybe the other sections of
the country were different, but that was my remembrance of the South.
