The reason that the TYPE R sat there so long is because they were probably
asking crazy money for it!
As for dealers getting $30K for TYPE R's, that is ridiculous, but I would
not be surprised if they sold that high.
I on the other hand got mine after all the hype was gone and after I
thought all the cars were sold for 1998. I picked mine up in November,
and got it for sticker($23.5) without AC. That took some serious haggling
though and actually walking out of the dealership. My dealer did not even
have the car, but they got it from Brookfield Acura in Milwaukee.
I gotta say taht I could not be happier with my car. I placed 2nd in TU
this past weekend at Utica as a guest of the Salt Creek Sports Car Club.
Great group of people these folks! I was less than a second behind the
leader, which was pretty damn good considering I have only driven 3
events, and only 2 in my Type R, ever...
I did run into some problems however on my last run. Broke my cv joint on
a very unnecessary/not-needed downshift on the hairpin. Stuff happens
though, and $230 later my car was safely home and back in the garage via a
flatbed.
How many other TYPE R drivers are there here?

If only that were the case with TYPE R's! I do indeed love my car, and I
am glad that they kept them in limited numbers. I don't mind not having
the cruise or sunroof. I only have 8000 miles on my car, but I love every
minute driving it!
